Pioneers Handle Stars

The MNU Men's Soccer team traveled to Oklahoma City Saturday afternoon and came away with a 4-1 victory.

The Pioneers came out strong in the first half and immediately put pressure on the Stars. MNU got on the board first with a goal in the 28th minute by Lucas Machado. The goal was unassisted as he took on the defender and beat the keeper with a nice individual play. The Pioneers forced OKCU's goalkeeper to make five saves in the first half but could not add to the lead.

MNU started the second half very well and with just two minutes gone Jilani Jillo scored from an Eddie Morales assist. In the 58th minute OKCU had a nice sequence of passes that led to goal by Kieran McLachlan to cut MNU's lead to 2-1. The Pioneers responded well and just two minutes later Lucas Machado scored his second goal of the game off an assist from Adam Sportsman. In the 76th minute, MNU put the game away with a goal by Felipe Abreu. Atanas Karagyaurov set the goal up with a nice cutback and pass.

For the game MNU outshot OKCU 20-8 with shots on goal being 13-3. Vladimir Kalajdzic was credited with 9 saves. Yann Passet had 2 saves for MNU. OKCU falls to 1-3-1 on the year. MNU moved their record to 5-1-1 on the year.

Next up for the Pioneers is a match at Park University on Wednesday night at Julien field at 7:00.
