Pioneers Wrap Up Road Trip with Win

Box Score

The Pioneers wrapped up their road trip to Iowa with a 2-0 win over Morningside College on Monday. On a beautiful afternoon in Sioux City, MNU controlled the game from start to finish to collect their fourth win on the year.

Eddie Morales scored both of the MNU goals. He had a good road trip, scoring all 3 of MNU's goals in the 2 games. His first goal came at the 6 minute mark and was assisted by Jelani Jillo. MNU had several opportunities to extend the lead but the Mustang goalkeeper came up with multiple saves to preserve the one goal lead for the Pioneers. Atanas Karagyaurov assisted on Morales's second goal at the 30 minute mark to extend the lead before halftime.

The second half was a rather dull affair. MNU had most of the possession and did not capitalize on their opportunities. Morningside was content to sit in and stay organized while looking for counter attacking opportunities. They were successful on one of those chances and forced MNU goalkeeper, Yann Passet, to make a spectacular save that preserved the clean sheet. MNU now has 4 shutouts to begin the year.

For the game MNU outshot MC 24 -5, with SOG being 10-1. MC's goalkeeper was credited with 8 saves. Passet, for MNU, had 1 save. Morningside is now 0-3 on the year. The Pioneers return home for a Top 25 showdown with #12 Grandview University on Saturday at 3pm.
