Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Highlight | MNU used a big comeback to beat Peru State, but fell to top-seed CMU in the next game in the HAAC Championship Series on Friday. In the first game, MNU got on the board in the first inning on a wild pitch, but Peru took advantage of several Pioneer defensive miscues to plate 5 runs in the bottom of the second. MNU got a run back in the third thanks to a Bobcat error, but MNU trailed by 3 into the top of the seventh. Courtney Gall led off the seventh with her first homer of the season - a bomb to right field - and the Pioneers started to rally. Lynsey Keith's flare landed for a double, and Alexis Pacheco followed with a bunt single. A wild pitch brought home Keith, and Vanessa Arandules followed with an infield single to tie the game. With 2 outs, a Peru State error kept the inning alive, and Jadalynn cirillo followed with a double to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. Another wild pitch gave MNU a 6-5 lead, and Ana Tavarez drilled a 2-run double to the fence to supply a cushion. Katie Williams closed out the game for a save, Megan Schwindler recorded her 18th win, and Lynsey Keith (2-4, R, 2B), Alexis Pacheco (3-3, 2 R, SB, sac), Vanessa Arandules (3-4, R, RBI), Jadalynn Cirillo (2-4, R, 2B), Ana Tavarez (1-4, 2B, 2 RBI), and Courtney Gall (2-4, R, HR, RBI) provided the offense.

In the second game vs. #14 CMU, the Pioneers scored a run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. The Eagles answered with 2 homers in the top of the second to take a 3-1 lead, then put 2 more on the board with another homer in the fourth. MNU scratched across a run in the seventh, but CMU held on to win 5-2. Lynsey Keith (2-4, 2B) and Alexis Pacheco (1-3, 2 R, BB, 2 SB) led the offense.

MNU is 25-12. The next contest is an elimination game on Saturday vs. Benedictine (19-22) at 11:00. The winner will then try to beat CMU twice for the tourney title.
