MNU Beats #25 KWU but Falls in Nightcap to Close Season

MNU eliminated #25 Kansas Wesleyan to stay alive, but fell to #7 Spring Hill to close the season. The Pioneers jumped all over KWU with a 4-run first as Lynsey Keith led off with a hit-by-pitch and stole 2nd. Vanessa Arandules doubled home the first run, and the Coyotes committed 3 errors which led to a 4-0 lead. The lead was extended in the second on a Keith sacrifice fly to score Courtney Gall, but KWU answered with a run in the third to make it 5-1. In the bottom of the fifth, Chelsey Streibich led off with a double and MNU loaded the bases with 1 out. An error and a fielder's choice brought home 2 more runs, and MNU went up 7-1. Taylor Pearcy pitched the final 3 innings to save Megan Schwindler's 20th win of the season, and Keith (0-2, 2 RBI, SB, HBP, SF), Streibich (2-4, 2 R, 2B), and Ana Tavarez (2-3, R) led the offense.

In the second elimination game, MNU faced #7 Spring Hill for the second time in 2 days. MNU could not record a hit while the 1-seed put up 6 runs in the season-ending loss for the Pioneers.

MNU ends the season with a record of 27-15.
