MNU Sweeps Baker

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Highlight | Chelsey Streibich drove in 10 of MNU's 15 runs in a double header sweep of Baker on Thursday. In Game 1, the Pioneers took a 1-0 lead after Streibich's suicide squeeze scored Lynsey Keith in the third inning. MNU broke it open in the fourth when after a base-loaded walk brought home a run, Streibich drove a pitch off the left field fence to score 3 more. Vanessa Arandules followed with another double and MNU took a 6-0 lead. Baker answered with a 4-run fifth, but the Pioneers countered with a single run in the bottom of the fifth and 3 more in the sixth to win 10-4. Taylor Pearcy pitched into the fifth for her 4th victory of the season, Megan Schwindler picked up her first save, and Lynsey Keith (2-2, 2 R, RBI, BB, SF), Hayley Gately (1-3, 2 R, 2B, RBI), Chelsey Streibich (2-3, 2 R, 2 2B, 5 RBI, SAC), and Vanessa Arandules (2-3, R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, BB) led the offense.

In Game 2, Baker took advantage of some Pioneer defensive miscues to score 3 runs in the top of the first. But MNU loaded the bases with no outs and Streibich came through again with a rocket off the left field fense to clear the bases and tie the game. Both pitchers settled after the wild first inning and neither team scored again until the bottom of the fifth. With 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Streibich hit a shot off the diving shortstop's glove to score 2 and put MNU up 5-3. Megan Schwindler finished her start for her 7th victory, and Lynsey Keith (1-2, R, 2B, SAC) and Chelsey Streibich (2-3, 2B, 5 RBI).

MNU is 12-7 (5-2 HAAC). The next double header is Wednesday the 9th at home vs. Missouri Valley (2-14, 0-4) at 5:00.
