MNU Splits at Culver

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Game 1: L 0-1 | Game 2: W 4-2 (8inn) | MNU dropped Game 1 by a single run, but won Game 2 in extra innings to earn a split at Culver-Stockton on Friday. In the first game, Culver managed just 2 hits, but one of them was a solo homer in the third inning, and that was all the scoring in the contest. MNU recorded just 2 hits and was shut out for the first time since March of 2013. Vanessa Arandules (1-3, 2B) and Alexis Pacheco (1-2) got MNU's 2 hits.

In Game 2, Hayley Gately and Katie Williams hit solo home runs in the second and fourth innings, but Culver tied the game at 2 in the bottom of the fourth. The game remained tied into the eighth when MNU scored twice on a Katie Williams single to take the lead. Megan Schwindler closed out the game to pick up the win, and Vanessa Arandules (2-4, 2B), Katie Williams (2-3, R, HR, 3 RBI), Hayley Gately (1-3, R, HR, RBI), and Courtney Gall (3-4) led the offense.

MNU is 21-11 (12-4 HAAC). The next double header closes the season at Peru State (28-19, 7-7) on Saturday at 1:00. MNU likely needs a sweep to hold the 2-seed in the conference tournament.
