Chelsey Streibich took advantage of an error by drilling a 3-run homer to give MNU the lead. Bethany tied the game in the 5th, then took the lead on a solo homer in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh,
Kaity Wills led off with a double and advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch. A walk and a fielder's choice loaded the bases with nobody out, and
Lynsey Keith tied the game with a single.
Alexis Pacheco followed with a walk-off single up the middle, and MNU won 7-6.
Game 2 was against #15 Oklahoma Baptist. The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth when
Kaity Wills knocked home
Katie Williams for a 1-0 lead. A
Vanessa Arandules RBI single gave the Pioneers a 2-0 lead, and it held until the bottom of the seventh. The inning started with a single, strikeout, single, and hit batsman to load the bases. A walk and another hit batsman tied the game, and a single completed the comeback with the walk-off RBI.
Game 3 was against Hastings, and it was another nail-biter. MNU trailed 1-0 before a 3-run second inning gave them a 2-run cushion. Hasting rallied for 4 runs in the fifth to take a 1-run lead, but MNU took advantage of an error to tally 2 runs in the bottom of the inning to take back the lead. In the top of the seventh, Hastings loaded the bases with one out, then nailed a double to take the lead. MNU couldn't make a comeback in the bottom of the inning and Hastings took the game.
MNU is 6-2. The next game is a double header on Monday the 17th at Southern Nazarene at 2:00.
