Williams & Pacheco Pace Pioneers, Game 2 Postponed

Box Score
Highlights
Katie Williams homered twice and Alexis Pacheco hit a grand slam in MNU's 9-1 victory over Avila on Wednesday. Game 2 was postponed due to weather, but MNU won the first game in 6 innings via the mercy rule. In the second inning, Katie Williams got MNU on the board with a massive bomb to left field. The ball cleared the second fence and ended up on the street for a 1-0 lead. With 2 outs, Alexis Pacheco's 1st career homer was a grand slam to put the Pioneers up 5-0. Avila got a run back in the fifth, but the Pioneers answered with a Courtney Gall sacrifice fly to take a 6-1 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, with the rain and wind battering the field and 2 runners on, Katie Williams drilled another homer to put MNU up by 8 and win the game. Megan Schwindler scattered 5 hits in 6 innings for the victory, and Pacheco (1-4, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI, 2 SB), Vanessa Arandules (1-3, 2 R, 2B, BB), Katie Williams (4-4, 2 R, 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBI), and Courtney Gall (1-2, R, 2B, RBI, SF) led the offense.

MNU is 8-5 (1-0 HAAC). The next double header is Saturday at home vs. Evangel (19-5, 4-0) at 1:00.
