Pioneers Come Up Just Short at Culver

The Pioneers played right with the Wildcats in a tough road contest but came away 6 points short in a 77-71 defeat at Culver-Stockton on Saturday. Culver built a 9-point lead with 6 minutes left in the first half, but the Pioneers fought back to get within 3 at halftime. MNU took the lead after 5 minutes into the second half, and led by 6 with 6 minutes to go. That's when MNU went cold. A 4-minute scoring drought led to a 12-0 run by the Wildcats to take a 6-point lead with 2 minutes to go. Culver hit enough free throws down the stretch to hold off MNU and win the game.

Justin Randall led the way with 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Nate Launius had 16 points and 2 blocks. O'Shai Clark had 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Cale Brubaker had a game-high 5 assists off the bench. And Jordan Whelan was 4-4 from the field for 10 points off the bench.

MNU is 2-7 (1-1 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at home vs. Missouri Valley (6-4, 2-0) at 4:00.
