The Pioneers jumped out to a 13-0 lead and never trailed in the HAAC schedule opener vs. Baker on Thursday. The double-digit lead was maintained throughout most of the first half, and MNU went to the locker room leading 37-26. In the second half, MNU led by 14 before a 6-minute scoreless stretch allowed the Wildcats to get the lead down to 3. But the final 10 minutes were all MNU.
David Nelson recorded 11 straight points in 4 possessions to contribute to a 27-11 stretch to close the game, and MNU won 79-61.
