#8 MNU swept their 4 matches at the Bellevue Tourney and now sit 8-0 after 2 weeks of play. The Pioneers dropped just 1 set while winning 12 over the weekend.
In the opener vs. #15 Viterbo, the Pioneers controlled all 3 sets in a sweep by the scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-20. Zoraida Heredia had 14 kills and 9 digs. Linjun Ji had 10 kills and a match-high 11 digs. Taryn Salum had 36 assists and 3 blocks. And Emily Hester had a match-high 4 blocks.
The Pioneers continued to play well vs. Jamestown, sweeping by scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-23. Heredia had a huge match with a match-high 13 kills and a match-high 17 digs. Ji recorded 9 kills and 15 digs. And Taryn Salum had a match-high 34 assists and 8 digs.
MNU dropped the first set 23-25 vs. Great Falls, but quickly turned it around and dominated the next 3 sets, winning 25-13, 25-21, and 25-16. Ji had a match-high 15 kills, 9 digs, and 5 assists. Heredia had 11 kills and 10 digs. Vladi Kopanarova had 8 kills, 8 digs, and 4 blocks. And Salum had a match-high 39 assists, 12 digs, and a match-high 4 aces.
The Pioneers closed out the tourney with a sweep of Doane. The scores were 25-19, 25-13, and 25-21. Rosan Rivera racked up a match-high 16 digs. Heredia had 9 kills, 7 digs, and 4 aces. And Salum recorded a match-high 24 aces and 8 digs.
Salum received HAAC Setter of the Week honors for her efforts.
The Pioneers are 8-0. Conference play starts on Tuesday at Central Methodist (3-1) at 7:00.
