The Pioneers fell into a big hole early and couldn't recover in a 12-1 loss to #10 St. Xavier in the NAIA Opening Round on Monday. The Cougars scored 3 runs in the first inning while MNU hitters were retired in order. With 2 outs in the second, St. Xavier mounted a rally and scored 3 more times to take a 6-0 lead. MNU managed 2 hits in the bottom of the second but couldn't score, and the Cougars put the game out of reach with 4 runs in the third. Doubles from
