Box Score After 110 minutes and 6 goals, a winner could not be decided as #17 MNU took on #8 Missouri Valley on Saturday. The final score after two overtimes was 3-3.
MNU got on the board first in the 13th minute. Valley was called for a handball in the box and the Pioneers were awarded a penalty kick.
Eddie Morales stepped up and his PK was saved by Josh Wells, but
Aurelien Norest was there to blast the rebound into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The Vikings responded well by scoring the next 2 goals to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
The second half ticked away without much action. The Vikings were creating more chances but MNU was beginning to press for the equalizer in the final minutes of the game. Their perseverance paid off in the 76th minute when
Daniel Clifton played a ball across the box and
Lucas Machado smashed the ball into the net. The game was tied 2-2 for about 25 seconds.
Jeremie Koffi stole the ensuing kickoff and played a long ball that got in behind the Viking defense. Wells came out to defend it and Machado was able to touch the ball past him and walk the ball into the goal. Just like that MNU was up 3-2 with just over 13 minutes left in regulation. here). But the drama wasn't done. With just 3:32 left on the clock, Valley scored an unbelievable goal to once again tie the game.
The Vikings created more chances in the overtime periods but MNU was able to hold on for the draw. For the game MVC outshot MNU 23-12 with SOG being 14-8. Wells was credited with 4 saves. MNU's Chris Eriksson had an amazing game and was credited with 9 saves.
MNU is 11-3-2 (3-1-1 HAAC). The next game is Wednesday at home vs. Avila (5-11, 1-4) at 3:00.
