The Pioneers took a hit in the conference standings with a sweep at the hands of Graceland on Tuesday.
Box and Play by Play In Game 1,
Adriana Asano's first career MNU homer put the Pioneers up 1-0 in the second inning, and she did it again in the fourth to increase the lead to 2-0. Graceland answered with a single run in the bottom of the fourth, then tied the game at 2 with a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth. The Pioneer offense couldn't put anything together, and Graceland used 2 singles and a walk to load the bases with 1 out in the bottom of the seventh. An infield hit ended the game and gave Graceland a 3-2 victory. Asano (2-3, 2 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI) was the Pioneer offense.
Box and Play by Play In Game 2, Graceland put up 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning and the Pioneers couldn't dig out of that hole. Single runs in the fouth and fifth cut into the deficit, but Graceland scored 3 in the fifth and 2 more in the sixth to put the game out of reach. The Yellowjackets took the second game 9-2.
Jen Polivka (1-4, 2B, RBI) and
Morgan Burton (1-2, 2B, RBI, BB) had the Pioneer RBIs.
MNU is 17-14 (8-8 HAAC). The next game is a double header on Saturday at Culver-Stockton (13-20, 4-10) at 1:00 PM to close out the regular season.
