Game 1 Box The Pioneers were swept at Peru State in the conference opening double header on Wednesday. In Game 1, MNU couldn't get anything going offensively and were held to 3 hits and no runs. Peru managed single runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th to win 3-0.
Game 2 Box In Game 2, the Pioneers got on the board in the 3rd inning when
Lynsey Keith nailed the first pitch over the fence to give MNU a 1-0 lead. Then in the top of the 5th,
Jen Polivka's 5th homer of the season - a 2-run shot - put MNU up 3-0.
Cait Gardner provided insurance in the top of the 7th with a solo shot, but Peru mounted a comeback in the bottom of the inning. Two walks and two singles greeted the Pioneers before the 1st out was recorded. With the bases loaded, one out, and a run already in, Peru kept hitting until it was over. A single, walk, and two more singles brought home 4 more runs for a walk-off 5-4 victory for the Bobcats.
