Pioneers Fall to UMKC

Roo's win match 1-0

The MNU Men's Soccer team fell 1-0 to NCAA Division 1 opponent University of Missouri - Kansas City on Tuesday. After 3 successive wins last week the Pioneers lost on a second half goal and could not get the equalizer. The game was played at UMKC's Durwood Soccer stadium. Had you not known where you were you would have thought that MNU were the home team. The fan base comprised of students, faculty, and alumni from MNU made up a majority of the crowd. "The support tonight from our fans was incredible," stated Coach Wardlaw. "We greatly appreciate the support and I know it gave our guys a lift."

As for the game, the Pioneers put on a great performance. With several opportunities hitting the post and bar the boys might feel as if they deserved to take more from the game. A 15 minute section in the second proved to be pivotal as UMKC pressured MNU into some uncharacteristic turnovers. For the game, MNU had the majority of possession but it is the execution around the box that determines games and UMKC had the edge there.

Overall, it was a good match and a great exhibition of college soccer in the Kansas City area. The Pioneers have 2 home games this weekend. The loss tonight drops their season record to 4-2.
