In a rematch from last year's national tournament, MNU split a double header at Ottawa on Thursday. In Game 1 with the score tied at 1, the Pioneers scored twice in the fourth. With 2 outs and a runner on, Jenny Polivka tripled to give MNU the lead. An error brought Polivka home, and MNU led 3-1. But Ottawa came right back with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game, and broke the game open with 3 runs on 5 hits in the fifth. The Pioneers could not come back and dropped the first game 6-3. Jen Costa (2-4, 2B),

In Game 2, the Pioneers exploded on offense and won 15-1 in 5-innings via the mercy rule. In the second inning
Taylor Ryal led off with a single and the next 4 Pioneers reached base, capped by a
Leslie Jones 2-run homer, her fourth of the year. The 6-run inning put MNU up by 5 and they kept the pressure on for the rest of the game. A run in the third, 3 more in the fourth, and 5 in the fifth put the Pioneers up by 14 and ended the game after the fifth.
