Three runs scored in the first inning when Tianna George led off with a walk and Chelsea Bapst followed with a single. Jen Costa drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Taylor Ryal and Ashley Salter singled to bring home another run. Alexis Folkerts brought home the third run with another sac fly, and MNU led 3-0. Jen Costa's 21st homer of the season brought home 2 more and MNU led 5-1. The Pioneers scored 2 in the third, fourth, and fifth to go up by 10 and won via the mercy rule. Kayla Harris (10-1) allowed 3 hits and 1 run in 5 innings for her 10th victory. And Tianna George (2-3, 3 R, RBI, BB, SB), Jen Costa (1-2, 3 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB, SB, SF), Taylor Ryal (3-4, 2 2B, RBI), Ashley Salter (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI), Emily True (2-3, R, 2B, RBI, BB), and Annie Duffner (1-3, R, 3B, RBI) led the offense.
In Game 2, Benedictine pitching held the Pioneers to 5 singles, but MNU still led 2-1 heading into the sixth. An error and a double put the go-ahead run in scoring position for Benedictine with no outs, and one out later, another double gave the Ravens the lead. The Pioneers couldn't score in the seventh and had to settle for the split. Ashley Salter (1-2, RBI) and Jessica Hull (0-1, RBI, SF) had RBIs for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers are 28-9 (10-4 HAAC). The next double header is Thursday at Avila (7-29, 1-9) at 3:00.
