MNU's Post-Season Run Comes to an End

Grand View University only controlled 15 minutes of the entire match on Saturday, but it was what they did in that 15 minutes that made the difference. In the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament, #6 seeded Grand View scored 2 goals in the first 15 minutes of the first half. After that, MNU started to wake up and actually play, but by then it was too late. The Pioneers were rattled and even when they started to play it just didn't seem like it was going to be their day. Grand View's goalkeeper made 2 great saves that were very important in keeping the score at 2-0 and not allowing MNU to get a foothold in the game. As the Pioneers pushed for a goal they were caught out again and the Vikings made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute. Except for a missed penalty kick by Grand View, the Pioneers would have been down by even more going into the halftime break.
 
The second half was a much better performance by the boys and the defense only allowed 1 shot on goal which was another penalty kick that was saved by Chris Eriksson. The Vikings goalkeeper continued to be solid in goal and he had 4 saves in the half before Trent Remmich scored off of an Oumar Seck assist to make it 3-1. But it proved to be too little too late as time ran out on the Pioneers' attempted comeback. MNU finishes the year with a 13-8-1 record. Grand View advances to the Final 16.
