MNU Men's Soccer Fall to Graceland

The MNU Men's Soccer team lost for the 2nd time in the week at Graceland University by a 2-1 score on Saturday. The winning goal was scored with just over 2 minutes left in the game. This was an important conference game for both teams and puts MNU in a precarious situation as they try to qualify for the HAAC Tournament.

The game got off to a late start due to the Women's game going to double overtime and then just as the men were about to kick off the lights at Graceland's stadium went out. After a 20 minute delay the game finally got under way. MNU struck first in the 10th minute of play with a goal by Trent Remmich, assisted by Gyer Vierthaler. The Yellowjackets responded immediately with a goal just 15 seconds later. The first half ended with the score being 1-1.

The second half was a back and forth game with neither team creating many chances. Just as the game appeared to heading into overtime, Graceland came up with the game winner.  Coach Wardlaw stated, “This was an important game for us and we did not respond well as a team. We were poor tonight and Graceland deserved to win the game.”

MNU falls to 8-6-1 on the season and just 1-3 in conference. They have the week off to prepare for a homecoming game against Central Methodist at Pioneer Field on Saturday at 3:30.
