The Heart of America Conference has had 5 Men's Soccer teams receiving votes in the NAIA National Top 25 poll this year.
Baker is currently at #5 in the country and leads these respective teams in the voting.
MNU came into this afternoon's match having received enough votes to be in the 28th position in the latest poll.
The game between 2 top-tier teams did not disappoint. With both teams up for the challenge, the game started at a frantic pace and that never really ceased. Baker scored the only goal of the match in the second half. Off of a long throw-in, the ball ricocheted off a Baker player's back and into the net. MNU actually had the best opportunities in the game but missed several very good chances in front of goal. “Games like this are decided on the smallest of margins,” stated Coach Wardlaw. “We did not capitalize on our chances and so we can't blame anyone but ourselves for the loss.”
MNU falls to 8-5-1 on the year, and 1-2 in conference play. They travel to Graceland University (8-3-1, 2-1) on Saturday evening for a critical conference match for both teams.
