Olathe, KS - On the field and in the classroom aren't the only arenas that the MNU Pioneer Softball Team works hard in. They also work hard to make their campus, community, and world a better place for everyone. On Thursday December 2nd, the MNU Softball Team partnered with Project Patricia to extend a helping hand to the women of Africa who have some very basic feminine needs.
Project Patricia is a Kansas City based organization who looks for new or gently used towels and sheets to make cloth maxi-pads for women in need in Africa. They view disposables as a temporary solution for an endless need so they make cloth pads. The cloth products can be cleaned and reused and becomes a valuable alternative to the women of Africa and keeps waste of disposable pads out of landfills. The pads are traced on the material, cut, sewed together, and packaged with laminated Bible verses explaining God's love and plan for salvation. Project Patricia's mission statement is clear, "To bring glory and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ through service to women in Africa by meeting a physical need as an avenue to demonstrate Christ's love and share His Gospel with them."
The MNU Softball Team spent the afternoon tracing and cutting patterns on towels, wash clothes, and other remnant material. "The girls get it." Shares Head Coach Steve Babinski, "They couldn't imagine their life without some of these very basic needs and were extremely willing to donate a few hours of their time and make a difference in the world for Christ." If you counted the workers and added up the few hours each of them put into this project you would total over 50 hours of labor. It goes to show how much a little help can go a long way and how much you can accomplish with the help of some willing hands.
