Pioneers Shutout Central Methodist

Coming into the game the MNU Men's soccer team desperately needed a win to keep their conference playoff tournament hopes alive. In a game played in front of a great homecoming crowd, the Pioneers walked away with a 1-0 win over Central Methodist University. "I told the guys before the game that it didn't matter how we did it but we had to get the win," said Coach Wardlaw. "We didn't make it easy on ourselves but a win is a win and at this point we will definitely take it."

The Pioneers took the lead in the first half on a Steve Shaw goal that was assisted by Alec Lemmon. Matt Gow earned the shutout in goal and he came up with 3 good saves to help preserve the lead. MNU missed multiple chances in the second half that would have sealed the game, which led to a game that never lacked excitement. The men will return to action next Saturday when they go to Lamoni, Iowa to face Graceland University.
