Coach Luiz joined MNU in the fall of 2011. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native helped the Pioneers to the most successful season in program history as the team went 30-9, won the conference tournament, and qualified for Nationals.

Prior to MNU, Luiz was a standout player at Frank Phillips Junior College, the University of Minnesota, and the University of South Florida. She was an NJCAA Academic All-American in 2006 & 2007. NCAA Academic All-American in 2008. NJCAA and AVCA All-American 2006 & 2007. All-Region Honoree in 2006 & 2007. WJCAC Player of the Year in 2006 & 2007. All-Big East Tournament Team in 2009.
