Jose Ramos was named MNU head women's soccer coach prior to the 2025 season. He brings a wealth of both coaching and playing experience after he spent years playing at many different levels while also coaching club at Toca FC and semi-pro at Sunflower State FC.
A native of Santa Isabel, Brazil, after high school he decided to come to the United States to play for The University at Albany, NY (NCAA DI). He then transferred to a different institution where he could experience soccer at another level, Notre Dame College ( NCAA DII). After a few injury riddled seasons he made the decision to transfer to MidAmerica Nazarene University (NAIA) to finish his college career.
Prior to joining the MNU Women’s Soccer Staff, Jose spent one highly successful year as an Professional Indoor soccer Player for the Kansas City Comets. He helped the Comets to achieve a national semi-final. In addition to that he was honored with “All MASL Top-Rookies”.
Coach Jose also coaches club soccer. He joined Toca FC as one of the Developmental Team staff members and now has been coaching with the club for a couple years. With his vast experience in the game, he hopes to impact the player's development as much as he can, as well as creating an environment where they can enjoy the process of developing. He looks forward to helping the players grow as players inside and outside the field. In the fall of 2021 he joined Sunflower State FC as the Head Coach for their Women's Soccer program. In the last three seasons he lead the team to a Central Conference division Champions on the UWS2 league and overall record of 11-10-5.
Jose earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from MNU. He has also earned US USSF “B” License as well as multiple coaching diplomas from the United Soccer Coaches, such as: Goalkeeping level 1, Futsal Level 1, Advanced Technical Training, The Collegiate Coach Professional Development, Training and Developing the Complete Female Athlete.
José and his wife, Megan, live in Overland Park, Kansas.
