Coach Beltran hails from Santiago, Chile. In Chile, Alvie played at the highest youth level for Santiago Morning, a pro team in Chile, from age 17-19. After finishing high school, he decided to play soccer in America at MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU). Alvie was a four-year starter and the staple of the MNU defense and midfield each year. He was known for being willing to do or be whatever the team needed most.

In 2012, he was Third Team All-Conference and the led the Pioneers to a final four round appearance in NAIA National Tournament. In 2013, he earned Second Team All-Conference as a sophomore, and the Pioneers made a second-round appearance in the National Tournament. In 2014, he earned Second Team All-Conference and the Pioneers second round of the National Tournament again. In 2015, he was named First Team All-Conference, team captain, and led the team to their greatest playoff run in school history – Runner Up in the National Tournament and Honorable Mention All-America. After that, Coach Alvie kept playing soccer at the highest level, joining the professional indoor team Kansas City Comets in 2018.

As a coach, he holds a D licence from US Soccer Federation. He is also part of the Toca FC coaching staff.
