Martina Mihailovic has been an assistant coach for the MNU women's basketball program since the Fall of 2015. Mihailovic handles academic progress, while aiding in the team's recruiting, scouting, and development of individual players' skills through individual workout sessions. In her first year as an assistant coach, the Pioneers posted a 32-5 record, won the Heart Conference Tournament, and won their first NAIA Division 1 Women's Basketball National Championship.
Prior to MNU, she spent 10 years as an assistant coach for the Bethel University (TN) Lady Wildcats, where she monitored players' academic progress. During Coach Martina’s time at Bethel, Lady Cats managed to keep their GPA above 3.0. Under her guidance, numerous BU student-athletes received All-Conference, All-American, and WBCA All-American Awards.
Coach Martina helped develop former Lady Wildcats, Nina Djokovic, Jelena Budimir, and Porsha Harris who are currently playing professional basketball in Europe. Last season, Nina Djokovic played with Club “Andratx”. Andratx, out of Andratx, Spain that competes in Spanish B League. Jelena Budimir played with Urla Eda out of Turkey. Porsha Harris played for Nevsehir Universitesi in Turkish TKBL last year. She made All-Imports Team averaging 21.3 ppg and 10.8 rpg per game. She recently signed with Alanya Belediye out Alanya, Turkey.
Prior to Bethel University, Coach Martina spent one season as an assistant coach at Park University in Kansas City, MO. While at Park, Mihailovic's duties included recruiting, tape exchange, and working with the guard positions on offense. She worked under Coach Joe C. Meriweather.
Coach Martina arrived at Park University after a two-season run at Rockhurst University from 2001-2003. She led the team in scoring (10.5 ppg) and assists (3.7) her junior and senior years as the Lady Hawks' starting point guard under Coach Rebecca Morrissey. Mihailovic was named to the All-Heartland Conference Second Team her senior season.
Prior to her two seasons at Rockhurst, Coach Martina played one year at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. Mihailovic began her collegiate career at Cloud County Community College, where she was named "Freshman of the Year" in the Kansas Jayhawk West Conference. She averaged (10.0 ppg) and (3.1 apg) per game. In her second season at CCCC, Coach Martina was sidelined due to an ACL injury and received a medical red-shirt for the season. Cloud County went on the win the NJCAA National Championship that year, 2000-2001.
A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Coach Martina was a member of the Yugoslavian National Youth Team in 1997. She averaged 19.2 ppg, 4.9 apg, and 3.0 steals per game. She was voted MVP of the state that year.
Coach Martina Mihailovic received a B.S. degree in marketing from Rockhurst University in 2004. She earned her Master of Arts in Education degree from Bethel College in May of 2007.
