Nico Theberge

Nicolas Théberge, better known as Nico, joined the staff in 2025 as a Seasonal Assistant Coach. He is currently completing his Master of Science in Management.

Nico was born in Rouyn-Noranda, QC, Canada, where he lived with his family until the age of 14. He then moved to Montreal, Canada, to play his final two years of high school soccer with a stronger club. At 16, he earned a spot on the Quebec provincial team.

In 2019, Nico was recruited to MidAmerica Nazarene University by Coach Kevin Wardlaw at the age of 17. During his collegiate career, he helped his team make four consecutive National Tournament appearances (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023). In 2021, he played a key role in leading the team to the Quarterfinals of the National Tournament. He was named to the All-Conference Teams four years in a row (Second Team and Third Team honors).

In his senior year, Nico helped MNU capture the 2023 National Tournament Title. He was named to the All-Tournament Team and received the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Nico also ranks in the Top 2 all-time in MNU history for career assists with 35.

Nico graduated from MNU in 2023 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management and a minor in Marketing.
