Hudson Welty returns to MidAmerica after successful stints at Covenant College (GA), Indiana Wesleyan University (IN), and Arizona Christian University (AZ). Welty played for legendary Head Coach Rocky Lamar from 2014-2018 and was part of the 2016 team that advanced to the NAIA Fab 4. Welty was team captain his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons and was a two-time NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete.Â
Arizona Christian University (2021-22):
Welty spent one season as the lead assistant at Arizona Christian University helping the Firestorm reach the NAIA Fab 4 and finish the season ranked #4 in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll after a 32-5 campaign.Â
Indiana Wesleyan University (2019-21):
Welty spent two seasons as the graduate assistant at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana and helped the Wildcats to a 59-7 record and a #1 ranking in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll in the last 5 polls in 20-21. The Wildcats season was cut short in 19-20 due to the pandemic and finished in the Sweet 16 at Municipal Auditorium in 20z-21.Â
Covenant College (2018-19):Â
Welty began his coaching career at Covenant College (NCAA III) for Head Coach Neal Young in 2018-19. The Scots had their best winning percentage in school history and won the USA South regular season conference championship. Â
Welty graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a degree in Business administration in 2018 and from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2021 with a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership. Welty and his wife, Audra, reside in Shawnee.
