Coach Utz graduated from MNU in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. While a student at MNU, he was a member of the men's basketball team that finished National Runner-Up in 2001. During his playing career, the men's team qualified for the National Tournament each year and were HAAC regular season champs in 2003 and HACC tournament Champs in 2001 & 2003. Adam was selected to the all-conference team 3 years, was named NAIA All-America, and MNU Male Athlete of the year in 2003. Adam was also a member of the 2003 HAAC Football Championship team. He was inducted into the MNU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.

Coach Utz lives in Olathe and works for Enterprise Fleet Management. He has three daughters: Harper, Sidney, and Korbin.
