Coach VanBuskirk begins his second season with the Pioneers. Last year he assisted with video, scout and special teams, and recruiting. This year he will also assist with the offense and wide receivers. An Iowa native, he graduated from Simpson College (IA), where he played football and ran track. He was a 3-time All-Conference running back and led the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) in rushing his senior year and was a 2-time All-America Decathlete. In 1999 he was inducted into the Simpson College Sports Hall of Fame.
Following Simpson he was a graduate assistant track and field Coach at the University of Central Missouri from 1990-92, earning his M.S. degree.
In addition, he coached 6 man football at Hill High School in Fort Worth, Texas in 2001 working with DBs and LBs and was the DC in 2002 season.
Coach VanBuskirk is a 20-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was an USAT HM All-America Triathlete in 2005 and competed in the Armed Forces Triathlon Championships in 2003.
Coach VanBuskirk lives in Overland Park, KS with his wife Gretchen and his daughters Carolina and Hannah.
