Paul Hubbard

Paul Hubbard is in his fifth season as Defensive Coordinator for the Pioneers. In 2012, the Pioneers led the nation in pass defense and pass defense efficiency while ranking in the top-20 in total defense and points allowed. In 2011 under Hubbard, the Pioneers were 4th in the country in total defense, allowing only 249 yards per game. His 2010 defense boasted top ten final stat rankings in nearly every category. The Pioneer defense was 4th in total pass defense efficiency, 3rd in total sacks (37), and 2nd in total interceptions, picking off the opposition 26 times as well as recovering 15 fumbles, totaling 41 turnovers on the year. Prior to being a coordinator Hubbard worked with the defensive line. Under Hubbard’s leadership, the Pioneer defense has boasted 6 All-America selections. Three of his players were 1st-Team All-America selections in linebacker Joe Camacho (2013), defensive lineman Mike Deavours (2008), and 2 time All-America linebacker Jake Duren (09-10). Prior to his time at MNU, Hubbard spent one season as a student defensive assistant at Northern Colorado and one year as the Defensive Coordinator at Woodland Park High School.

As a player Hubbard was a 2-time college All-America defensive lineman. He started his career at Bethany College in Kansas, earning All-America honors before transferring to Northern Colorado where he again earned All-America honors while leading the nation in sacks. Hubbard also spent a short time with the Cincinnati Bengals in a rookie camp.
