Lavell Jackson enters his first year as defensive backs coach for the Pioneers. Prior to this season Jackson spent one season as the Co-Defensive Coordinator at Thornton Township High School and one year as the assistant Defensive Backs coach at the University of Sioux Falls where he helped guide them to a National Championship appearance. Jackson has coached 6 all-conference performers at both the high school and collegiate ranks. Jackson helped guide safety Jalen Banks to one of the top 30 high school safeties in the country.
As a player Jackson provided an explosive return threat while helping the University of Sioux Falls to back to back national championships. Jackson was an All-Conference performer for Sioux Falls. Prior to USF, Jackson attended the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he saw action in eight games for the Mavericks. In the spring of 2010, Jackson graduated from USF with a degree in Communications.
