OLATHE, Kan. – MNU split its home doubleheader with Peru State on Wednesday, dropping a tight first game before rallying in a comeback win in the nightcap.
In Game 1, MNU was locked in a pitcher's duel but came up just short, falling 1-0.
The lone run of the game came in the 1st inning on a solo home run, and MNU was unable to respond offensively. The Pioneers had opportunities, placing runners on base in multiple innings, but couldn't deliver the timely hit.
In the circle, Mandy Brown was outstanding despite the loss, striking out 10 batters over a complete game while allowing just 1 run on 4 hits.

In Game 2, MNU came back after falling behind 3-0 in the opening inning. The Pioneers immediately answered with a run in the bottom half and gradually chipped away before breaking through in the 5th inning.
Molly Nicas led the charge offensively, going a perfect 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Her RBI hits in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th innings steadily erased the deficit, while Senne Imel delivered a sacrifice fly in the 5th that proved to be the game-winning run.
In the circle, MNU settled in after a rocky start. Brie Manwarren delivered a dominant relief performance, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings while allowing just 1 hit and striking out 9 to earn the win.

MNU's 2 runs in the 5th turned a deficit into a lead.

Brie Manwarren earned the win with 9 strikeouts over 6.0 shutout innings in relief. She also went 2-3 with 2 runs, a double, and a walk. And Molly Nicas (3-3, 2B, 3 RBI) and Senne Imel (1-2, RBI, SF) powered the offense.
