Pioneers Split at William Woods

FULTON, Mo. – MNU split Saturday's doubleheader with William Woods, winning in a Game 1 blowout before being held in check in a low-scoring Game 2.

In Game 1, MNU controlled the game from the outset, scoring in the 1st inning and steadily building a lead with a run in the 3rd and back-to-back 3-run innings in the 4th and 5th.

In the circle, Mandy Brown was dominant, tossing a complete game while striking out 14 and limiting William Woods to just 1 run on 4 hits to secure the victory.

Game 1 Turning Point
MNU's run in the 3rd made it 2-0 and proved to be enough.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Mandy Brown went the distance with 14 strikeouts. And Brie Manwarren (2-3, 2 R, RBI), Lailah Simmons (2-4, RBI), Molly Nicas (2-4, R, 2 RBI), Senne Imel (2-4, R, RBI), and Dakoda Hobbs (1-1, 2 R, 2 RBI, 3 BB) led the offense.

In Game 2, was held to just an infield single and 2 walks, and the Owls managed single runs in the 1st and 6th to win 2-0.

William Woods' 1st-inning run proved decisive.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Grace Berlage struck out 6 in 5 innings of relief. And Lailah Simmons (1-3) accounted for MNU's lone hit.
