OLATHE, Kan. – A gritty second-half rally helped MNU erase a double-digit halftime deficit and outlast Park 53-49 in a defensive battle on Saturday. The Pioneers locked in after the break, holding the Pirates to just 12 second-half points.
MNU started the game with a 16-7 burst to take a 9-point lead, but Park owned the rest of the 1st half. The Pirates finished on a 30-9 run to take a big lead to the locker room. With 11 minutes to go, Landon Wagler caught fire from deep, hitting 3 straight threes to turn a 6-point deficit into a 3-point lead. Park couldn't find any offense in the final minutes, and MNU held on to win by 4.
The Pioneers shot just 30.8% from the floor but knocked down 11 threes and dominated the second half 26-12, flipping the game and picking up a much needed win.
