OLATHE, Kan. – MNU delivered a dominant all-around performance Tuesday night, rolling to a 76-42 victory over Central Methodist in the Heart Tournament quarterfinals. The Pioneers used stifling defense and a blistering second-half shooting display to turn a competitive first quarter into a runaway win.
After holding a narrow 12-8 lead at the end of the opening period, MNU seized control in the second quarter. The Pioneers limited Central Methodist to just one field goal in the frame and 5.9 percent shooting overall, building a 27-12 halftime advantage. Kameron Green sparked the surge with a three-pointer midway through the quarter, while Grace Carlson knocked down a triple late to push the margin to 25-10. MNU's defensive pressure forced 15 turnovers on the night and consistently disrupted the Eagles' rhythm.
The third quarter put the game out of reach. MNU opened with a 9-0 run and shot 64.3 percent in the third quarter, outscoring Central Methodist 25-13 in the period to take a commanding 52-25 edge into the fourth.
Defensively, MNU was just as impressive. The Pioneers held Central Methodist to 24.2 percent shooting and just 1-of-17 from three-point range. MNU also dominated inside, scoring 43 points in the paint and holding a 43-37 edge on the boards.
Green led the way with 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 3 steals, anchoring both ends of the floor. Lukert added 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including 3 three-pointers. Carlson contributed 11 points, while Zaylee Werth grabbed 10 rebounds. Rogers added 7 assists to go with 6 points as MNU assisted on 21 of its 27 made field goals.

MNU's defensive lockdown in the second quarter - holding Central Methodist to one field goal and 4Â total points - turned a 4-point game into a 15-point halftime lead.
