OLATHE, Kan. – MNU closed out the season in dramatic fashion Saturday night, edging Benedictine 63-62 on a final-second shot from Malachi Bryant. In a back-and-forth contest that featured 10 lead changes, the Pioneers made just enough plays down the stretch to secure the one-point victory.
Isaiah Cull spearheaded the charge for MNU, finishing with a career-high 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and a perfect 4-of-4 at the free-throw line. Brantyn VanDyke added 9 points and 3 assists, while Landon Wagler chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds. And Jadyn Haney dished out 6 assists in just 15 minutes.
MNU trailed by 6 with 2:30 remaining in the game, but Isaiah Cull hit a 3, buried 2 free throws, and made a tough layup to lead a 7-2 run to get within 1. The Pioneers got a stop with 7 seconds left, and Malachi Bryant drilled an elbow jumper in the final second to win the game.
