OLATHE, Kan. – MNU swept Friends in a doubleheader at Williams Field on Wednesday. The Pioneers rode a dominant 2nd inning in Game 1 and an explosive 8-run 4th inning in Game 2 to improve to 4-2 on the season.
In Game 1, MNU broke a scoreless tie with a 5-run second inning and never looked back in a 5-2 victory. Dakoda Hobbs put the ball in play and Imel came home on a Friends error to open the scoring. Tuscani Ritter followed with a 2-run single up the middle, and Danica Hobbs and Lailah Simmons each added RBI singles to cap the frame.
That outburst was more than enough support for Mandy Brown, who tossed a complete game, allowing just two unearned runs on two hits while striking out 10.
