OLATHE, Kan. – MNU put together its most dominant doubleheader of the season on Tuesday, sweeping Clarke in two decisive wins at Williams Field. Behind stellar pitching and plenty of offense, the Pioneers remained in a good spot to qualify for the conference tournament.
In
Game 1, pitcher
Mandy Brown was untouchable, retiring the first 9 batters she faced while MNU plated 3 in the 3rd to take the lead. Brown retired the Pride in order again in the 4th and 5th, and a walk-off 2-run single in the bottom of the 5th from
Robin Todd ended the game via the mercy rule, and sealing a 5-inning perfect game with six strikeouts for Brown.

Dakoda Hobbs' 2-run double in the 3rd was all MNU needed.

Game 2,
Grace Berlage picked up where Brown left off, retiring the first 10 batters she faced while the offense built a 4-0 lead. Clarke finally recorded a hit in the 4th, after MNU pitching had retired the first 25 straight batters on the day.
MNU scored 2 more in the 4th for a 6-0 lead, but Clarke fought back with a 2-out 3-run double in the 6th to get back in the game.
Brie Manwarren's 2-run homer in the bottom of the inning iced it, and the Pioneers won 8-3. Berlage went the distance, scattering 4 hits and striking out 6 for her sixth win of the year.

MNU's 4-run 3rd proved to be the difference.
