PERU, Neb. – MNU took the first two games of a 4-game series at Peru State on Friday, then split on Saturday.
In
Game 1, took a 3-0 lead in the 3rd with a
Drew Woodley 2-run double and a
Kaden Owens RBI single, but Peru answered with 2 in the bottom of the 3rd. MNU blew it open with a 5-run 5th, and tacked on 2 more in the 7th to win 10-3.

Luis Lopez struck out 7 in a complete game victory. And
Brentt Olmo (3-3, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB),
Drew Woodley (2-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, Sac),
Kaden Owens (4-5, 3 2B, 2 RBI),
Christopher Lugo (1-2, R, BB, SB, HBP), and
Kristian Crespo (1-3, 2 RBI, BB) led the offense.
In
Game 2,
Adam Gray kept the Bobcats off the scoreboard while the Pioneers managed single runs in the 4th and 5th - with RBI's from
Christopher Lugo and
Brysen Hamilton - to win 2-0.

Adam Gray allowed just 1 hit in 5 innings for the win.
Reece Helland struck out 2 in 2 innings of relief for the save. And
Christopher Lugo had the game winning RBI.
In
Game 3, both teams scored 1 in the 1st inning, and MNU took the lead in the 3rd on a
Javier Melendez RBI single. Peru State rallied for 2 runs to take the lead in the bottom of the 4th, and neither team scored again. MNU had runners on second and third with 1 out in the 7th, but a strikeout, intentional walk, and strikeout ended the game.
Game 3 Turning Point
Peru's 2 runs in the 4th turned the game around.
Game 3 Individual Leaders
Logan Burbach struck out 4 in 3 innings for a no-decision. And
Drew Woodley (3-4, SB),
Kaden Owens (1-3, 2B, RBI, IBB), and
Kristian Crespo (2-3) had big games at the plate.
In
Game 4, MNU rallied for 2 in the top of the 1st to grab the lead, and extended with single runs in the 3rd and 4th to go up 4-1. Peru closed the gap with a run in the bottom of the 4th, but MNU scored 2 runs on 3 hits in the 5th to push the lead to 4.
Owen Chaffin and
Giancarlo Cortez combined to keep the Bobcats to 2 runs on 6 hits, and MNU took the series.

MNU's 2-run 1st set the tone.

Giancarlo Cortez picked up a 3-inning save. And
