SHAWNEE, Kan. — MNU secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Spring Arbor on Wednesday. After falling behind early on an unearned run in the first inning, Drew Woodley led off the 5th with a triple, and a sacrifice fly from Christopher Lugo tied the game. In the bottom of the 7th, three straight walks loaded the bases with nobody out, and Lugo delivered again, driving in the winning run with a clutch single to right.
On the mound, Adam Gray set the tone with five strong innings, allowing just one unearned run while striking out two. Gabriel Cortez and Parker Graber combined for two scoreless innings of relief, with Graber striking out the side in the seventh to earn the win.
Turning Point
Christopher Lugo's RBI single in the seventh inning was the game-winner.
Individual Leaders
Adam Gray struck out 2 in 5 innings. Giancarlo pitched a scoreless 6th. Preston Graber struck out 3 in the 7th for the win. And Javier Melendez (2-3), Drew Woodley (1-2, R, 3B, BB), and Christopher Lugo (1-2, 2 RBI, SF) led the offense.
