PARKVILLE, Mo. – MNU's late surge wasn't enough to overcome a cold first half and a barrage of Park shot-making, as the Pioneers fell 81–71 on Wednesday night. Despite a strong response after halftime - shooting 51.6% and knocking down 8 threes - MNU couldn't erase an early 25-point deficit and dropped to 2–3 in conference play.
MNU fought back with urgency in the second half. Kobe Nunes caught fire off the bench, drilling 3 triples and finishing with 17 points, while Caden Kaberline continued his steady interior presence, adding 16 points and 10 boards. Elliot Mogren also provided a major lift with 11 points.
The Pioneers trimmed the margin to 11 multiple times, including after a Nunes dunk at the 3:20 mark that made it 71–61, but Park answered each push with timely buckets.
MNU's bench contributed with a 40-18 margin, and the Pioneers won the rebounding battle 41–34, but 18 turnovers and Park's 45% shooting from deep proved too much to overcome.
Turning Point
Park's 21-12 run to close to the first half built a double-digit cushion the Pioneers chased the rest of the night.
