The annual
Coach Yantis 5K Turkey Trot, held the Saturday before Thanksgiving on the campus of MidAmerica Nazarene University, celebrated another incredible year of community spirit, gratitude, and movement. The 2025 event saw a remarkable
45% increase in participation, reflecting the momentum and impact this tradition continues to build in the Olathe community.
Proceeds from the event support a wide range of local initiatives including
MNU student scholarships, the
MNU endowment in honor of Coach Yantis, the
Olathe Public Schools Foundation, a
$500 partnership donation to Chisholm Trail Middle School, and the
American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge KC. In addition, generous
non-perishable food donations from race participants were delivered to the local Salvation Army to assist families in need during the holiday season.
The Yantis 5K Turkey Trot honors the enduring legacy of Coach Brad Yantis, who was a MidAmerica Nazarene University Football & Track athlete, graduating in 1983, and went on to Coach at Chisholm Trail Middle School in Olathe, KS. This annual event brings individuals and families together in an atmosphere of gratitude, remembrance, and giving back. The event's mission is to create a lasting tradition that uplifts the community through service, education, and support for those battling cancer.
"We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from our participants, volunteers, sponsors, and partners," Coaches Crew organizers shared. "Together we are ensuring Coach Yantis' spirit of generosity, kindness, service, and leadership continues to shape our community for years to come."
Plans are already underway for next year's event, Save the Date for the
Saturday before Thanksgiving on November, 21st, 2026.
