OLATHE, Kan. – MNU outlasted Dordt in a double-overtime thriller, 114–111, on Thursday night in the Cook Center. The Pioneers improved to 3–0 behind a balanced offensive effort that featured six players in double figures and clutch shot-making down the stretch.
The game was tight until Dordt found separation midway through the second half. An 8-0 run by the Defenders put the Pioneers in a hole, but Kobe Nunes hit a 3 to get MNU back in the game. Trailing by 7, buckets from Isaiah Cull, Elijah Vos, and Brantyn Van Dyke put MNU back up by 1 with 11 minutes left. Neither team got more than 1 possession ahead until Dordt held a 4-point lead with just under 4 minutes to play. Landon Wagler hit a 3 to get closer, and Uriah Boutte tied it at 88 with a 3 at the 1:47 mark. Dordt took a 2-point lead with 90 seconds left, but Boutte tied it again to send it to overtime.
MNU led the first overtime by 4 points with 4 seconds left, but a quick bucket, a turnover, a foul, and 2 free throws shockingly sent the game into a second OT. MNU hit enough free throws in the period to hold off Dordt, and the Pioneers earned the victory.
Malachi Bryant led MNU with 31 points on 11-for-21 shooting, including five 3-pointers, while Caden Kaberline filled the stat sheet with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Uriah Boutte added 16 points—including a critical layup and three-pointer in overtime—while Isaiah Cull delivered 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Elijah Vos posted a near double-double with 12 points and 9 boards, and Brantyn VanDyke provided a key spark with 10 points off the bench.
Turning Point
In the second overtime, Bryant buried a three with 3:20 remaining to give MNU a 111–109 lead—a margin the Pioneers never relinquished. Cull followed with a mid-range bucket on the next possession, and the MNU defense forced three straight empty trips by Dordt to preserve the victory.
