OSKALOOSA, Iowa – #2 MNU rolled to its fifth straight win with a 4–1 victory over #8 William Penn on Saturday afternoon, continuing its late-season surge to the top of the Heart Conference race.
Antonio Mugica opened the scoring in the 10th minute, converting from the penalty spot for his ninth goal of the year. William Penn equalized three minutes later, but MNU regained control before halftime when Jeremie Pelade finished a feed from Mugica to give the Pioneers a 2–1 lead in the 30th minute.
The Pioneers kept the pressure on after the break. Gil Brown extended the margin to 3–1 with a strike from a Jaxon Slaven assist in the 51st minute, and David Stoklasek put the match away in the 65th, slotting home after a combination play from Mugica and Pelade. Tobias Stirl made three saves in goal as the MNU defense held the Statesmen scoreless over the final 77 minutes.
Turning Point
Pelade's goal in the 29th minute restored MNU's lead and shifted momentum back to the Pioneers, who never looked back after halftime.
