ATCHISON, Kan. - MNU turned in a dominant performance on Saturday, defeating Benedictine 93-66 in an impressive road showing. The Pioneers and Ravens were both on fire in the first half, shooting 55 and 53Â percent respectively. But MNU exploded in the second half, outscoring the Ravens 46-23 to run away with it.
Joe Buchanan and
Gary Clay were offensive powerhouses, combining for 47 points and shooting a scorching 12-for-15 from beyond the arc.
The Pioneers' offense was on fire, shooting 57.4% from the field, including a blistering 63.0% from three-point range. Benedictine struggled to keep up, shooting just 29% in the second half as MNU's defense clamped down.
Turning Point
MNU's explosive 15-0 run midway through the second half, fueled by three-pointers from Buchanan and Clay, pushed their lead to 20 and effectively ended Benedictine's hopes of a comeback.
