DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Pioneers won 3 out of 4 over the weekend at Clarke. In Game 1, MNU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st when Brycen Sherwood connected on a solo homer. In the top of the 2nd, Kristian Crespo's RBI single made it 2-0, and Brentt Olmo drove home 2 more for a 4-0 lead. Starter Zach Trevino held Clarke off the board until allowing a single run in the 5th, but that was all the scoring in a 4-1 victory.

MNU's 3-run 2nd made it 4-0.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Zach Trevino struck out 8 in a complete game victory. And Brentt Olmo (0-3, 2 RBI, Sac), Brycen Sherwood (3-4, R, HR, RBI, SB), Willy Borquez (1-2, R, HBP), and Drew Woodley (1-2, R, BB) led the offense.

In Game 2, MNU scored twice on wild pitches in the top of the 1st, but Clarke answered with 1 in the bottom of the inning. In the top of the 3rd, RBIs from Sean Maple and Drew Woodley made it 5-1. MNU used Bryce Brecklin and Reece Helland in relief of starter Jackson Noland, and the Pioneers held on to a 6-2 victory.

Jackson Noland struck out 2 in 2 innings. Bryce Brecklin picked up the win with 5 strikeouts in 3.1 innings of relief. Reece Helland struck out 3 in 1.2 innings for the save. And Drew Woodley (1-2, R, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 HBP), and Brentt Olmo (2-4, R, 2B, SB) had big games at the plate.

In Game 3, Clarke jumped out to a 6-0 lead after 3 innings, and the Pioneers were never in the game. A bases loaded walk brought home 1 Pioneer run in the 5th, but Clarke escaped the jam and won 7-1.

Ryan Wilwers pitched 4.2 innings of 1-run relief. And Brentt Olmo (2-3, BB) and Dionathan Cornet (1-2, RBI, BB) reached base twice.

In Game 4, MNU scored 2 in the 1st and 1 in the 2nd for a 3-0 lead. Starting pitcher Adam Gray held Clarke scoreless through 4 innings, and the Pioneers extended the lead with RBIs from Noah Castillo and Dionathan Cornet in the top of the 5th. In the bottom of the 5th, Clarke broke through with a single run, then scored twice on a single, walk, and 3 hit batsmen in the 6th to make it 5-3. Brycen Sherwood's 2-out RBI double made it 6-3 in the 7th, and a 1-2-3 7th ended the game.

MNU's 2-run 5th made it 5-0.

Adam Gray struck out 7 in 4.1 innings for the win. Kristian Hurtado got 4 outs for the save. And Brentt Olmo (2-3, 2 R, BB), Brycen Sherwood (1-2, 2B, RBI, 2 Sac), Noah Castillo (1-3, R, 2 RBI, SF, SB), and Dionathan Cornet (2-3, RBI, SB) led the offense.
