OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers swept a 4-game series vs. Peru State over the weekend. In Game 1, MNU rallied with 2 outs in the bottom of the 1st with a Noah Castillo RBI double followed by homers from Dionathan Cornet and Kaden Owens for a 4-0 lead. Starter Zach Trevino breezed through 7 innings of 2-hit shutout ball, and MNU won 5-0.

Zach Trevino struck out 5 in a complete game 2-hit shutout. And Brentt Olmo (2-3, 2B, RBI, BB, SB), Noah Castillo (1-3, R, 2B, RBI), Dionathan Cornet (1-2, R, HR, 2 RBI, BB), and Kaden Owens (1-3, R, HR, RBI) drove in MNU's 5 runs.

In Game 2, the Pioneers again put up a big number in the bottom of the 1st when Javier Melendez, Noah Castillo, Kaden Owens, and Willy Borquez drove in runs for a 5-0 lead. Starting pitcher Adam Gray pitched a complete game 4-hit shutout, and the Pioneers cruised to a 9-0 victory.

In Game 3, MNU scored in 5 of their 6 offensive innings - including an 11-run 5th - and ran away with an easy 21-0 victory. Starter Noah Castillo struck out a career-high 11 Bobcats in 6 shutout innings, and recorded 4 hits and 5 RBIs at the plate.

In Game 4, Peru State finally pushed a run across in the top of the 1st, but a Brycen Sherwood solo homer in the bottom of the inning quickly tied the game. MNU exploded for 11 in the bottom of the 2nd - highlighted by homers from Noah Castillo, Kaden Owens, and Willy Borquez - and the Pioneers cruised to another blowout win of 12-3.

Kristian Hurtado picked up the win with 1.1 innings of relief. Bryce Brecklin, John Barry, and Reece Helland combined for 3 innings of hitless relief.
