KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Pioneers started quickly and beat St. Mary 8-2 on Monday at the Rube Foster Classic in Kansas City.
Drew Woodley led off the bottom of the 1st with an HBP, and 5 straight singles followed from
Brycen Sherwood,
AJ McMahon,
Noah Castillo,
Dionathan Cornet, and
Javier Melendez to spark a 5-run rally. McMahon drilled a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 2nd, and
Brycen Sherwood's RBI double in the 3rd made it 8-0. The Spires scored twice in the 5th, but the MNU bullpen held firm and the Pioneers won 8-2.
